Don't be a slacker, get certified!

I think many professionals are misunderstanding my perspective on certification and why I am an advocate of, at least, for industry project managers, to get their PMP.

I am a hands-on developer and have been since the dawn of the "PC" age. My first computer was an Apple II. I got an Apple Lisa in 1983 (the Mac forerunner) - and still develop for Linux, iOS, Windows with a plethora of Win and Mac machines.

I am also a PM with a highly regarded industry cert - a PMP, that is current. Early in my career i got pretty tired of working for incompetent managers and so studied for and obtained an MBA and later a PMP, with experience to match.

One the reasons I've remained with my current non-technology box company contract for so long is that there is little to no manic tech hype and no overzealous, green or incompetent, non-certified manager hovering over me.

It would be great to help you as a PM get your act together. Buy my PMP Exam Sim and get your PMP cert, please!

RDS (Role Delineation Study) Affect on PMBoK

Last year's August 31 changes to the PMP exam did not make any substantive change to the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam knowledge areas. Nor did the difficulty level of the test increase or decrease.

I am certain that, as a PMP who passed the exam on my first sitting and having read the 14 pages of the RDS, that, most if not all of the change to the exam is simply a matter of interweaving professional responsibility questions with content from the nine knowledge areas. According to PMI, upwards of 30% of the question content may change, but this may have to do more with ordering than verbiage.

The Role Delineation Study specifies that project selection is no longer in scope for PMPs yet I understand there are still project evaluation and selection questions on the exam, i.e., on NPV, IRR, Payback Period, Opportunity Costs, AOA, and classic theories of motivation from the likes of Maslow, Herzberg, McClelland et al.

Rest assured that my PMP Exam Sim is up to date on the latest material, and I recommend, as I always have, that with my exam sim and PMBoK study you too can pass. Be confident that the RDS supports the PMBOK Guide.
